lady cave update

Been working on my lady cave. So far it looks like this!

My oilcloth covered desk. Tutorial soon to come!

Room Rundown:
Poang Chairs : IKEA (free as a hand me down)
Shag rug : UO found on craigslist for 20$
Oilcloth Desk - Free Minus 2 yard of frabric 14.00$
Lamps - Free hand me downs
Shelving Unit - Hyllis IKEA 14.99
Chair - Nordmyra IKEA 39.99
Gate Leg Table - Norden IKEA 179.99 (Former dining table in our tiny apartment)
Mirror - Hand me down
Paper laterns - IKEA 5.99

I know it's a far cry from finished, but I felt pretty accomplished. I'm debating on whether or not to throw down some cheap IKEA click lock flooring. Plywood is such a pain to keep clean. Seeing as this is a small area, and the slatten flooring is only .65 cent a square foot, I think we can make it happen.
Now If I can just find a good weekend to do it.

Basement Inspiration

The lady cave has been on hold since you last saw it here . It's been collecting lost socks and anything I can't throw away but are't using at this second.
It looks like my room circa 16 year old me. Which is a really really really NOT a good thing (right mom?). So To get myself back on track I've decided to get inspired. I'm looking to have a "unfinished, usable, basement". Seeing as they're no way in heck that I'd be able to actually get the money together anytime soon to properly finish the basement, It's a good middle ground. Not to mention there are things with water and draining that need to be done before I invest that kind of money. But it'd be super silly not to use it in the long run right? I think the fact that my basement has high ceilings, and practically doubles the square footage of my house sure doesn't hurt my argument either!
Here's some amazing unfinished basements to feast your eyes upon!

Pretty Gorgeous right? Also a far cry from this:

But I'm hoping that some serious cleaning, organization, and a bit of paint will go a long way. I'm lucky because I have a million light fixtures, outlets, and central air vents. Everything already being there is going to save me a lot in making this space usable.

ladycave part two!

So The lady cave has some ridiculously bad retro wood panelling, some serious dust, and a mass of my stuff! There are also a lot of things left by the previous owner, wood, weird crappy furniture, yada yada. Anyway I get going with some photos.

The utility side of the basement, ie laundry, storage, and the likes.

The beginnings of a dark room space!

My sewing space, as soon as I get everything unpacked. Brian already monopolizing my comfy chair, I have another one to build, in case someone wants to come hangout and sew with me. I have a feeling it'll just be more of a bowie lurking on me chair, but whatever.
List of things to do for the lady cave, long term & short term.
•paint everything white, floors, walls, beams.
•Make light blocking curtains for the darkroom section.
•Build shelves all along wall in sewing area for storage.
•Buy Damprid to clear up some musty smells.
•Find a place for everything
Ikea trip this weekend to pick up some stuff for the guest bedroom! We're having our first official guest next week, My sister Tori-Jane! Then followed by my dad and his girlfriend, and then my mom and stepfather. It's going to be crazy, so I want to have the guest room up to par so it's one less thing to worry about.

Lady Cave

So I've decided to turn DOOMbasement into Lady Cave. As many of you know, I am the queen of hobbies. I recently purchased everything I need for my own darkroom. I'm also a sewer, so to save Brian from the tangeled mess of thread that is, also going in the lady cave. I've been ~trying~ to work out, so maybe one day I'll have a nice piece of exersize equiptment to get jiggy with. A Mini bar and place to sit wouldn't hurt either.Photos of my scary scary basment to come!
