Fall Palette Challenge

Please Check out my Pinterest for sources.

It's that time of year where I start my seasonal sewing plan. Unlike in spring, where I completed say only three projects, I'd like to get a lot more sewing done this winter. Seeing as it's already like 40 degrees outside I have a feeling this winter is going to be a bad one. Nothing gets me more sewing productive than being stuck in the house.

I haven't purchased any fabric for this yet, and it doesn't really match anything in my stash, which means I'll need to buy as I go. I'm not super stoked about that, but my stash right now is kind of all over the place. Nothing coherent is coming from that mess. I have some patterns in mind though I'd like to take a crack at, all of which I already own.

Simplcitiy 1427 from 1955, I have a really well maintained copy in my size. I've never sewn from a true vintage pattern before, and it makes me a bit nervous. I expect there to be tons of fitting issues, but I could use some fitting practice. The full skirt and bow are staying well within my theme.

Victory Patterns Nicola. This is such a beautiful dress. Really timeless. It seems pretty easy to put together as well, which is a plus.

Simplicity 1776. I love the clean lines of view A with the three quarter length sleeves. I've never used a PR pattern before, I'm interested in what makes them unique.

Ah the trusty, and free, sorbetto pattern. I plan on drafting some sleeves and a peter-pan collar to mimic the striped shirt in my mood board.

I have a ton more patterns in mind as well. I'm in the process of organizing and documenting my pattern stash. It'll be easier to figure out what I want to sew once I know what I have. I also want to dip my toe into actual pattern drafting this winter. I need to make myself a good sloper. If that's something anyone is interested in, I could blog the process.

Do you have any sewing plans this winter?

Mood Board Mondays : Hazel Plans

Hazel Plans

Spoiler alert guys, I finished sewing simplicity 1800 last weekend (Scheduled to post on Thursday)! In time to wear to a BBQ even! While I bask in the fleeting glow of a completed project, let's start planning my next one! I'm going to be sewing the Victory Patterns Hazel. I have this great buffalo check in pink for the top, but and at a loss at what to do for the bottom half. I think I have it narrowed down to navy, gray, or sea glass.

Any input?

I'm in the midst of a sewing frenzy working on the my spring pallet challenge. Does anyone else want to shop within their palette this year? Here's some stuff I pulled from our Friends over at shopbop! I'm really digging orange and navy this season.

Spring Summer 2012 Mood Board

1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9

So the first piece of inspiration was the fabric my mother sent me. It's the polka dot one with the flowers. So I pulled my main colors from that and decided I wanted to ground them with denim once I saw kendi's very well put together combo with the bell bottoms. I haven't picked out my patterns yet, but will let you guys know when I do!

Wardrobe Challenge

I'm currently in the planning stages of a mini wardrobe challenge. My new years resolution involves trying my  hardest not to purchase any ready to wear clothing in the year 2012. So I figured I'd do a wardrobe challenge much in the style that Colette Patterns hosts twice a year. I've been pinning inspiration like a mad man for a few weeks, and have narrowed it down to the images that really struck me, and clothing I've been obsessing over.
As far as colors go, I'm thinking lots of lemony yellows, pale corals, creams, and small accents in a light grey blue.

As Far as my neutrals, black will always be my favorite. I'm also feeling Large florals and oversize graphic prints. The third dress looks alot like the macaroon pattern, with a little ribbon trim. I also need to make a swim suit, which terrifies me. I love the retro high waist bottoms look. I have a feeling I might get stuck drafting that one myself though. That might end up being a huge disaster, but is totally worth a shot in my opinion.

The Final palette ended up looking like this.

I really dig it. Bad news is that I have like no stash fabric this matches. Not buying clothing for a year is a good an excuse as any to buy more fabric though right? Check back soon for the pattern selection once I get them picked out.
