The Space Between

There are certain times in the year where I start getting really lazy. The lull between summer and fall is one of those times for me.

I have a mild case of Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I love fall, but as soon as I have to start getting up in the dark I start losing my motivation to get anything done. Hence my skipping some blog posts recently, which I apologize for.

That aside though, I'm still going to be very busy these coming weeks!

Next weekend I have a living history rendezvous with my Dad. It's basically pre-1840's camping. Yes, I'm that kind of nerd. I have a lot of sewing I need to get done before then. Luckily it's all pretty simple and I'm hoping to get it done all on Saturday.  So far the list includes; A shirt for my father, a chemise (super easy), Bloomers, a gathered skirt, vest, and bonnet. Don't worry, I'll post pictures no matter how ridiculous I look!

Starting next week I'll be announcing a Sew-Along! Keep your eyes peeled!

I'm hopefully correcting my whole polyeurathane tragedy that happened on the bedroom floors. They have only gotten more yellow. Curse you Oil based Poly! I'v been sanding them down, and hopefully can put the last coat of paint on those bad boys. I'm ready to move on! I have so many DIY projects for that room, but really want to get these floors finished.

I'm also trying to write a better FAQ. So please feel free to leave some questions for me in the comments of this post! I'm pretty open to answering most anything!

Hello, my name is Paige, and I'm a slob.

So I know this might be the most boring post of all time for most people, and hell it might just be for my benefit. Humor me? I know I can't be the only person who struggles with cleaning, right? While I understand "clean" is a relative term for many, this is what I need to do to feel as though I gave it the good old fashioned try.

My Mumsy had a nickname for the state of my room growing up, the hellmouth (yes, that is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference). I have trouble putting things away, screwing lids and caps back on, having a never ending mountain of clothing that needs to be put away, and just procrastination in general. I haven't always kept the most tidy of houses, but the one thing that has helped so much is to have a cleaning schedule set in stone. Although for those of us not experienced in the art of cleaning a list can seem kind of daunting.

"Look at all that stuff I'm not doing"

I promise if you stick to your list it works and really isn't that bad. This list above is really the bare minimum I can do and think my house is clean. You pick chores that work for you though!  The every day things help the most in keeping the house clean. Also, doing a purge of your belongings is the first step to a tidy home. Less to clean = Less time cleaning. I do all my daily stuff as soon as I get home from work. It takes me about 30 to an hour if I need to do all of it. Once you get into the swing of things though, chances are you'll only need to do a few of these a day. I also split up my weekly and monthly stuff over their allotted time frames. I would die if I had to do all that cleaning weekly on one day of the week.

weekend to-do

Once a month Brian gets a four day weekend, which is normally the only time we're both not working. As much as I try not to, our weekend gets jam packed with all the stuff we've been putting off throughout the month. So maybe if I make a list we can get it all done and actually have some time for rest and relaxation.

-Finish Painting the kitchen wall. I'd like to get this done, it doesn't show up that much in pictures, but basically we've got on the walls is a sloppy first coat of high gloss paint. So I'll buy one more gallon of Martha's paint and get that done!

-Put old curtain rods from dining room upstairs, maybe spray paint for a pop of color!

-Make Curtains out of free sheer fabric from the lovely Anna! Also fix roller blinds.

-Work on the never ending list of yard work, Mow, Mulch, Edge

- Go through clothes and make a goodwill donation!

-Buy some rubbermaid storage containers for off season bedding, maybe space bags?

-Pick up Paint chips for cabinets and bathroom!

-Look into waxing and buffing floors

I think it's pretty manageable, right?

Sunday

We are officially moved out of the apartment as of this past weekend. So this entire week has left our dining room look like this.

Left over stuff that we don't "need". Yard sale soon maybe? Things I'd like to get done today

Put away or get rid of all clothes, everything needs to be in it's own spot.

Move bar into my amazing new china cabinet, more on that later!

Find a spot, maybe hang a shelf for all my "Girl crap" as Brian calls it, in the bathroom. IE bobby pins hair products makeup brushes ect.

Paint new nightstands for bed, pictures to come.

Give bowie a bath, because he's the only dog I know with BO.

Finish laundry

MOP floors

Clean Rugs

Pick and freeze mulberries.

Sweep Deck

Work on sanding porch
